ABOUT CALL TO LIFE

A more personal way to understand what shapes us.

Call To Life grew from lived experience, years of study, and a desire to help people understand what's happening within themselves with more curiosity, honesty, and compassion.

MEET JULIAN

I want what we do together to matter beyond our time together.

While my education and training have shaped how I support people, much of what I bring comes from having had to understand these things in my own life.

I grew up moving between families, spending part of my childhood in Southwest Detroit and a trailer park next to a landfill. By twelve, I was largely fending for myself and living on my own.

Those experiences shaped me, but they also led to a question that has stayed with me: why do we respond the way we do, even when those responses are causing us pain?

For years, I explored that question in my own life. I learned that understanding why something was happening wasn’t always enough to change what happened in the moment.

Today, I help people become curious about where their responses came from, what purpose they may have served, and what might be possible now.

I don't see these responses as something that's simply wrong with us or needs to be eliminated. Often, they developed for a reason. When we can understand what they're trying to protect or communicate, we can begin to relate to them differently.

The goal isn't simply to understand yourself better. It's to have more choice in the moments that matter - to ask for what you need, set boundaries, stay present in difficult conversations, and participate more fully in your own life.

MEET CLAIRE

A complementary presence when another perspective is needed.

Claire and Julian first met while working on a trauma unit in a hospital. They shared a commitment to helping people, along with a growing desire to offer something more personal and human than the systems around them often allowed.

Today, Claire supports a select group of clients, including those who feel more comfortable with a female practitioner or are navigating experiences related to sexual trauma.

Her presence prioritizes safety, pacing, consent, and respect for each person’s boundaries. Claire also joins Julian during select in-person retreats, where their complementary strengths support a shared healing environment.

REMEMBERING LAYLA

A comforting presence for more than a decade.

For more than a decade, Layla accompanied Julian during sessions and became a familiar, comforting presence for many of the people he supported.

She has since passed away, but remains an important part of the story of Call To Life and the many conversations she quietly sat alongside over the years.

OUR STORY

We wanted to create something that felt more human.

We met while working on a trauma unit in a hospital. Despite our dedication and care, we found ourselves increasingly frustrated - unable to bring the kind of healing we knew was possible, and often feeling complicit in a system that too often caused the problems it was designed to solve.

After leaving the hospital, we stayed connected. Our friendship deepened over time and eventually became a partnership, both in life and in the work we now do.

Together, we (Julian, Claire, and our beloved Layla) created a practice rooted in authenticity, freedom, and transformation. A space where we can fully bring our passions, skills, and lived experience to support others on their path toward healing - without the limitations of traditional systems.

This work is our way of answering the call we both heard so clearly: to create a new way of helping people, one rooted in truth, care, and real connection.

You don’t have to know if this is right for you yet.

The first conversation is simply a chance to ask questions and see if this feels right for you.
